Coburg Senior High School opened its doors to students at Year 10 level in 2007, and in 2009 we welcome VCE students in Year 12 as well to complement the Year 11 student offerings.. It is a school that is focussed on academic and vocational excellence that allows students to develop a sound understanding of the world of work and the world of academic study.Click on the Play button for a quick video tour, made by the students themselves!
Many Year 10 students undertake a VET Certificate II or III as part of an Australian School Based Apprenticeship. Most are completing at least one Unit 1-2 sequence at VCE level. Maths & Science, and the Visual and Performing Arts are the specialisms of the school. Apple technology is distributed throughout the school and ICT is threaded through all the learning that takes place. An adult learning environment which is a mix of open plan learning commons, breakout rooms and specialist science based classrooms, Coburg Senior place a high level of accountability and responsibility upon its students. It is a school that requires a significant degree of independent learning from the students. Differentiated learning is a hallmark of the school with students working at different levels and tasks with their capability range. A high level of achievement, commitment to self, and to success are demanded of our students. | |
Year Levels
Currently our students are in Year 11 and "Year 10". This is in inverted commas as each completes a VET subject and most complete a Unit 1-2 sequence so Year 10 blends or merges into Year 11 in reality. Some are completing VCAL program requirements as well.In 2009 classes will operate from Year 10 through to Year 12 with students completing a range of programs in a pathway that may include VCE Unit 1-2 and VCE Unit 3-4 subjects. Selected students will also be completing a first year university subject as part of an accelerated program. Benefits
