Valedictory Dinner
The Year 12 exams are well and truly underway with English on Friday October 30 being the kick off for most students, however, those studying LOTE, Music and Drama have already been through the examination and performance mill. Di Moore Wins Award!
On Monday October 26, Di Moore who is officially titled "Director of Operations & Resources" aka the Business Manager, was awarded the JUA sponsored Victorian Business Managers of Secondary Schools Award for Innovation.   [read more]

School Tour
Coburg Senior High School will have its next tour on Thursday November 19 2009 at 6pm. This provides the opportunity to see the school and learn about the approach and the curriculum on offer. Term III 2009
As we welcome in the commencement of Term III, the Year 12 students will be acutely aware of how little time remains before the end of year exams. There are a mere 19 weeks remaining before the school year finishes for these students. Every minute counts in this educational marathon this is now coming off the back straight.   [read more]

Indian Principals Delegation
12 Principals and Vice Principals from Mumbai and Chennai visited Coburg Senior High School on June 10 2009. The Asia Foundation at The University of Melbourne brought the Principal Class visitors to see what 21st Century schooling looks like.  [read more]

Mel Mixes It Up at MIT
Coburg Senior High School student Mel journeyed OS as part of the University of Melbourne iGem team presenting at MIT Boston. Mel is one of our students who works at Bio 21 and lady luck has smiled upon her providing the opportunity to travel to Boston and then on to New York for some educational visits and obligatory sight seeing.  [read more]

Ski Camp Returns
Welcome back to the CSHS Ski Patrol who have just spent four days carving up the slopes at Mt Hotham. Some skied, some snowwboarded, some spent time falling over and gettting up again... and again... and again.   [read more]

Apple Leadership Summit Hong Kong
In late April Principal Don Collins and Leading Teacher Catherine McMahon attended a three day conference held at the Canadian International School of Hong Kong.  [read more]

Exams Over & Semester II Off and Running
With one week to go until the end of Term II, Coburg Senior HIgh School students have been through an intensive exam period followed by detailed feedback sessions as immediate follow up. Exams are a key part of learning and assessment processes and the explicit skills required to perform well under timed exams conditions are valued and require practice and considered reflection.   [read more]

CHS Historical Group
The Coburg High School (1916-1993) Historical Group now has an online presence. Led by a very active group of alumni the Historical Group is working away on a range of projects that follow on from the very successful CHS Reunion held in 2006.  [read more]

Skills Victoria Apprentice of the Year
We are pleased to announce that two of our students have been selected as a finalists for the Skills Victoria Apprentice of the Year Award in the ASBA (Australian School Based Apprenticeship) category. The four finalists have been selected after a written application, and an interview with a SKills Victoria selection panel.   [read more]

State Library Website Launch
On Tuesday April 15 the State Library Victoria launched its new website for students and educators at Coburg Senior. Providing but a small part of the wealth of information contained in their collections, the ergo website is a joy to behold.  [read more]

Dress Up Day 08
So looking out of a window this morning, a Kung Fu Panda appeared from the midst of the oval. Now its not every day that you see that.. and then... Sylvester appeared from the right cruising down the new pathway on a skateboard. It was just getting weirder by the minute. Then Xena turned up, followed by a couple of cops, a spy, a Russian soldier... and on and on it went. A fundraiser for the school formal, it was Dress Up Day today, and what fun we had..  [read more]

John Couch Visits
We were extremely honoured to have John Couch, the Vice President of Apple, visit Coburg Senior on Friday March 14. John has responsibility for Apple's education programs worldwide, and is at the forefront of innovation for Apple products. John is the man who invented the cut and paste function used by computers of all persuasion ~ a function we all take for granted, and one most of us use everyday.   [read more]

RSJs Away
Major civil work has now removed the internal circular road that ran from the Alva Grove entrance and looped around the front of Building A. Significant amounts of excavator work and landfill has sculpted a new look and feel for the whole area.  [read more]

More Than Opera
Coburg Senior High School has been involved in the discussions with a company associated with Australian Opera known as More Than Opera. With a focus on working with youth to promote the performing arts, the company has a wealth of experience in the dramatic arts.  [read more]

Melbourne Uni Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars Program
It is with great pleasure that we can announce that two of our students are recipients of the the prestigious Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars Program. Congratulations to Waled and Mel for joining a select group of students who receive support and special access to the resources of Melbourne University.   [read more]

Refurbishment Underway
Stage II of the development of Coburg Senior High School is well underway with the demolition of all the internal walls on the second floor of Building B complete. This is the first step in the creation of 250m of sprung dance floor with 6m high ceilings, 320m+ of open learning of the 2D and 3D art, specialist graphics and a music and media centre. This will create a logical extension of the learning environment that is not just a school, but more a workplace of learning  [read more]

Performance Reprise
Given the many requests from people in the audience on November 14 at the inaugural Performance Evening, we are reprising the night in an edited form that creates an "hour of power performance" on December 5 commencing at 6pm.   [read more]

Performance Evening
November 14 saw the dawn of a new era in performance realities. Coburg Senior High School students and staff along with the good folk from More Than Opera put on a show of astounding quality.  [read more]

Stage II Refurbishment
The paperwork required for the commencement of the Stage II Refurbishment is now complete. Work will commence shortly to create a magnificent Performing and Visual Arts Wing. This will consume the whole of the top floor of what is currently known as Building B.  [read more]

Students Lead PD for Principals and Staff from Western and Northern Region
In July students from Coburg Senior High School instructed 33 Principals and teachers from a variety of schools in the Western and Northern Regions on the joys of using IMovie, GarageBand and Comic Life.  [read more]

ASBAs Away!
The Year 10 students at Coburg Senior spend one day a week in the workplace completing a VET Certificate II or Certificate III as part of their standard Year 10 curriculum offering.  [read more]
