
Coburg Senior High School commenced ite life in 2007 with students in "Year 10". These lucky students have access to not only a Year 10 program but also VCE and VET subjects. When fully established the school will cater for students in Years 10 to 12.
![]() The school has specialisms in Maths, Science, ICT and, the Performing Arts and Visual Arts. Coburg Senior High School is a state-of-the art education and training institution, demonstrating innovative and creative approaches to the delivery and management of a broad range of education and training programs. The physical infrastructure is based on flexible learning spaces to allow for the provision of class/group areas, presentation spaces, studios, lecture theatre, performing arts centre, instrumental music practice rooms and laboratories. The facilities provided incorporate the latest ICT initiatives to support the delivery of educational programs based on current educational pedagogies. The $3 million refurbishment of the first building has been completed. This first stage created new science and clean technology rooms for the pursuit of things scientific such as chemistry, physics, biology, robotics and plastics. The learning commons provide large open space learning areas where students and staff work together on learning tasks without being limited by classroom walls and a teacher centred "factory of learning" physical environment common in school architecture over many years. New ways of learning and new ways of teaching are supported through the layout of the school. Funding for the next stage of the refurbishment has been announced in the State Budget for 2007-8. Coburg Senior will now move to Stage 2 of the refurbishment plan that will create specialist areas for the Performing and Visual Arts. It is expected that building works will begin in mid 2007. |
Through the provision of an appropriate mix of VCE, VET, VCAL and ASBA strucutures academic and vocational excellence can be achieved by students creating well rounded students who achieve multi certificated outcomes and clear pathways to university, further education options or employment. Students in the ASBA program are currently placed in the workforce in diverse areas including
Melbourne University Bio21 scientific research program, LaTrobe Unversity, the Melbourne Aquarium, Transfield Services in the areas of IT, finance and business administration, and hospitality. Other placements cover the areas of health, recreation, sport and community services.
