Welcome to Coburg Senior High School
Coburg Senior opened its doors in 2007 to students in Year 10. These students completed a Year 10 curriculum threaded with VCE Unit 1 & 2 subjects plus a VET Certificate II or Certificate III under the auspices of an Australian School Based Apprenticeship. Now, in 2008 we have students completing "Year 10" in a similar fashion, and Year 11 students completing a selection of VCE Units 1 & 2 as well as 3 & 4 due to the accelerated learning element available in our pathways. Our students come from a wide variety of suburbs across the metropolitan area... from Melton, Glen Huntly, Richmond, and Williamstown to Fawkner, Coburg, Ivanhoe and Pascoe Vale South. (to name a few!) Each student has been drawn to the adult learning environment, the high level of computer technology, the quality of facilities and the manner in which learning takes place. Coburg Senior High School is more than a school, it is a workplace of learning. It has a unique open plan design which incorporates learning commons rather than classrooms. This design and the corporate feel of the school, help create a more university like adult learning where teachers and student learners develop their skills and understandings in a cooperative and supportive manner that has high visibility and high expectations of achievement. Student and staff learning is enhanced by an IT rich environment which has Apple technology distributed throughout the school. Strong connections to both the tertiary sectors and industry add a layer of learning and a format not seen elsewhere. As part of their standard curriculum, Year 10 students complete VCE and VET units, and an Australian School Based Apprenticeship. Enrolments are now open to students in Years 10 and Year 11. |
